Photograph of a gold head ornament buried in the Moche (Mochica) royal tomb treasure of the Old Lord of Sipan in the Lambayeque Valley of Northern Peru. The metalwork sculpture head is a 2-inch bead from a set of ten beads that made a necklace for the warrior priest Old Lord of Sipan. The bead is resting on gilded copper jewelry (now corroded green) and beads.
This is one of more than four dozen seal stones with intricate Minoan designs found in the tomb. Long-horned bulls and, sometimes, human bull jumpers soaring over their horns are a common motif in Minoan designs.
