Ca.1860-65 cap. Brim has a heavily stiffened white cotton net base with wires at front and back; it's 5" wide at slightly pointed at center top and narrowing to 1.5" wide, 8.5" down each side. Brim piece is first edged with white and black gauze-and-lace pleated trim. Layers of pleated lace and narrow velvet ribbon are then overlapped across it, ending in a layer of same pleated gauze.
