Tashirojima – Cat Island

More cats than human residents live on Tashirojima (田代島), aka Cat Island, a small island in Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture. In March 2011 a tsunami hit the island, but all the cats and residents are doing fine.

Have you been to "Cat Island" yet? If you love Japan AND cats then this is where you have to go.  It's located in Miyagi Prefecture and belongs to Ishinomaki City which was devastated severely by the tsunami in 2011. For some time nobody knew what happened to the island and the cats.
