Museum of London: Patten

Museum of London: Patten

The patten is made from a single piece of wood and has three wedges, all of which are very worn. Four iron nails secure the triangular leather straps on either side. The straps are made of a single layer of leather and are plain and undecorated. There is a leather binding strip on the left hand side of the patten, reinforcing the area where the strap is attached. The straps fasten by the end of one slotting through a hole in the end of the other and then this was secured with a nail.
