The works of Enzo Mari really speak to us. We've admired his Fruit Prints, especially La Pera. One of his best designs is the Sedici Animali wooden puzzle created for Danese in 1957. The puzzle consists of 16 different animals that fit together. The animals can also stand upright and played with as figurines. Danese issues 300 of these editions every year, each one numbered. So, yes, it's a luxury item. You can get yours at Inhabitat and elsewhere for about $600.
How does one buy and carry the durian then? It tears through most plastic bags (“duri” means spiky in the Malay language) and can often hurt palms when carried by hand. Designers from Wenzhou College developed a bag especially for carrying the Durian safely. Its construction involves a mesh of paper balls that create a perfect container for the spiky durian.
