Denver & Rio Grande Western RR. 6/1/52 - combined consist from Montrose & Craig passing through Rocky, near the end of its journey to Denver.  Loco is a cab-booster combination of ALCO PA-model diesel-electric units Nos 6003, 6002. Delivered 1947 (Nos 74685, 74702) as part of a 3-unit loco No 600 which had been ordered for service on the California Zephyr (with 601). In 1950 multiple-unit locos on the Rio Grande were given 4-digit numbers. The units of the 600 became 6001, 6002, 6003.

An eastbound Union Pacific coal train, led by Southern Pacific GE AC4400CW No. 235, grinds past the Rio Grande Ski Train at Fraser, Colorado, on February 9, 2001. While the skiers are hitting the slopes, the Ski Train lays over in the siding at Fraser just across from the small Amtrak shelter until the appointed time when they head up Winter Park to load skiers for the return trip to Denver.
