Sanctifica Me, 1923.  For this lithograph, Lothar Schreyer arranged geometric shapes on a square background, creating a kind of letter puzzle. If the characters are read in the right order – beginning with the red “S” that spans the entire surface – it is possible to decipher the plea “SANCTIFICA ME” (sanctify me), which is probably borrowed from the prayer Anima Christi.
