This Is Why the US Navy Is the Most Formidable Naval Force In the World
Here's a rare sight: four out of the ten Nimitz-class aircraft carriers—the largest warships ever built—plus an Enterprise-class carrier docked together. They are resting at Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia, which coincidentally is the largest naval base in the world. Look at all that engineering and firepower. And it's only half of the Nimitz fleet!
Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers
The old Ark Royal (R09) served from 1955 until 1978 and during her final decade carried FG1 Phantom fighters and Buccaneer long range strike aircraft capable of delivering tactical nuclear weapons. She gave potential enemies sound reason for prudence and diplomacy rather than military gambles. Here Gannet AEW aircraft are parked across the stern, five FG1 Phantoms along the flight deck and some Buccaneers on the bow.

HMS Bulwark (R08) of the British Royal Navy was a 22,000 tonne Centaur-class light fleet aircraft carrier. Initially commissioned as a light aircraft carrier in 1954, the ship was later converted into a commando carrier in 1958 and recommissioned as such in 1960. Bulwark remained in this capacity until 1969.
