This is THE best mustard!!!!  Hot and yet sweet......delicious on anything and even used as a dip for pretzels.  I use a variety of peppers in it, jalapeño, hot banana, habanero, cayenne......whatever we grow in the garden so it's a wee bit different in flavor each year.  Makes wonderful Christmas gifts, accompanied by beefstick, crackers and cheese!  Try it, you will be hooked!

How to Can Jalapenos - I wanted to can just some plain jalapeños in water, to use in soups and other dishes where raw or pickled jalapeños wouldn't work, and this is basically the recipe I used...I used half pint jars, so I could use the opened jar up faster, and these worked out great! This is the way I will can them from now is nice to have some jars of these on the shelf.

We put these on sandwiches, 7-layer bean dip, pizza, in burritos, quesadillas - you name it and we probably put these on it!

  • 3 (11 oz) cans Jalapeno peppers
  • 2 tbsp Mustard, dry
  • 5 cups Mustard, yellow prepared
Baking & Spices
  • 2 cups All purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp Cayenne peper
  • 1/4 tsp Nutmeg optional
  • 1/2 cup Salt
  • 5 cups Sugar
  • 1 Teaspon smoked paprika optional
  • 2 tbsp Tumeric
Oils & Vinegars
  • 3 cups Vinegar, white
Beer, Wine & Liquor
  • 2 1/2 cups Jack daniels whiskey
  • 3 cups Water
  • 1 teaspoon chipolte powder
Jack Daniels Hot Mustard (for canning) on BigOven: Hot, sweet, smoky mustard that is yummy on pork, chicken, pretzels, cream cheese, you name it. I know some canners will not use flour, I have made various mustards for years without an issue with it. Please be your own judge on this call. Makes a great gift or take to parties!
