On the corner of Wilshire Blvd and Western Ave, only one corner has some commercial development on it, on corner is empty, and the other two corners contain real estate offices - Kells & Grant and the de Roulet firm, which developed the Pellissier Building/Wiltern Theater. This photo is from 1924 when traffic was still light. In 1928, the LA city traffic commission recorded nearly 75,000 automobiles and double-decker buses passing through this intersection on one particular day.

Just when we think we’ve seen every photo of the Hollywoodland sign...along comes this one. It’s literally Hollywood history in the making—a shot of the Hollywoodland sign being constructed in 1923. I wonder if these guys realized they were building an icon.
