Afro-american Painting - Nat Love - Aka - Deadwood Dick by Harvie Brown

This is a painting of an Afro-American cowboy that lived between to centuries, traveled and worked throughout the West, won a shooting contest and other events in Deadwood, South Dakota where he picked up the moniker 'Deadwood Dick.

Born a slave in Jackson county Missouri, Cathay Williams was the only known female Buffalo soldier during the Civil War.  She masqueraded as a man and enlists din the 38th Infantry, Company A, as William Cathay.
