James Reed - a wealthy man and one of the organizing members of the The Donner Party. His custom, double decker, "Pioneer Palace Car" at times lumbered along so slowly it put the entire party behind schedule. Without it they would have made much better time and would have made it through the mountains in time to avoid the calamity. He was also banished from the group at one point for murdering John Snyder. He did not "play by the rules" very well..
