Students are making words in this activity. They are creating a word in a consonant-vowel-consonant patteren. This could be extended into word families or sight words. Students could do this as word work or at a station. I do this with spelling words.

Sound it out parking lot with matchbox cars with a letter on each one. Instead of matchbox cars can use anything,even a paper with a letter on each one and slide into parking space as say each sound. A great way to introduce your child to blending sounds!
