The Banshee, from the Irish “bean sí” (“woman of the síde” or “woman of the fairy mounds”) is a female spirit in Irish folklore, usually seen as a harbinger of death, as well as a messenger from the Otherworld. In Irish legend, a banshee is a fairy woman who begins to wail if someone is about to die.
Gods last laugh will go on forever, but He is not joyless all through time. He enjoys the same laughter that any parent enjoys when they see the cute and funny things their children do. The world is full of funny things that kids do, and we cannot help but laugh. It is folly to think that we have a capacity to enjoy such humor, and that God does not.
Children's curriculum: "Nonviolent Love is the reality of God's Presence. It is visible in Jesus Christ and in Jesus' Nonviolent Followers throughout the history of Christianity. Nonviolent Love is the golden thread into which we as Christians must nurture our children."
I'm not sure why this touches me the way it does. Maybe because of the old testament laws regarding treatment of animals. Maybe because I'm sure that Jesus was as compassionate towards animals as He was towards small children and poor, elderly widows. He is the One who told us that God sees even a sparrow fall.
