Here is the floor in its second and third stage. We applied a gray wash on the right. Then finish with white paint dry brush on the left.

Here is the completed wall installation. Boards were fitted around HVAC and pipes. We decided to give a single coat of oil based gloss urethane. They are rough cuts, and have uneven distribution of texture. With multiple coats you will end up with some areas being highly glossed and smooth. Other textured areas will appear more matt as they absorb more of the finish. You can start to see the custom dry brushed plywood floor we are putting together

We had to apply a slight bevel so the door would clear the jam. The cladding was left off the left wall so we could adjust the self closure springs on the hinges. You can also adjust the spring tension with an allen key after final installation.

Here are samples of the different finishes we were able to achieve using steel wool vinegar solutions. Starting from top left moving clockwise. The first piece was treated with a 24 hr solution made of extra fine steel wool. We used 3 litres of vinegar with one pack of wool. The solution is still clear when applied. Wood starts to turn immediately red as if suffering a rash. The darker strips with achieved with longer immersions of the wool and coarser grades.

Excuse the photo. This is just an image of the floor strips before painting the finish effect. We are applying a subfloor directly to a cement service. This involves Parquet floor adhesive and trowel work. The wood is 3/8 unfinished plywood. We purchased 36, 4'*8' sheets. Then rented a floor sander and smoothed them out on one side. Home Depot cut them down to 8" * 8' strips on their panel saw. Make sure to cut them two at a time to save on service charge .

One of these panels is a hidden door. Do you know which one? We have a few panels that were added without stain. We thought we would see if we like the effect. Yes we used steel wool and vinegar for a natural stain. You can find details on youtube. We will compete the upper section of the wall after the ceiling is painted.

Here is the first of our two hidden doors, We clad a fire door with rough cut lumber and mounted the door with Soss hidden hinges. The clearances on the the door jam is a mere 1/8 inch. There is another pic on this board that shows the door open.
