I've done this as 'story towers'. The kids loved it! Each class could do a poetry tower and display them in the library.

Mystery key stories - each tag includes a writing prompt dealing with a key and is attached to a real key. Students randomly select a key and write a story. This blog post includes some great story lines to include on the tags!

Give students a fun writing assignment with "mystery keys." Students receive one key and must write a story making sense of the line on the tag. Post includes lines to write on the key tags.
