Even when survivors distance themselves from a toxic person, we often still hear their voice in our heads, drowning out our own inner-voice and reaffirming the doubt that was planted a long time ago. In effect, we have a bully in our head.
My younger sibling has OCD and when she was in school she would struggle with teachers because of her learning style. It was something that we never really talked about as a family until she got older. They didn't want to embarass my sister to me.
