The Satala Aphrodite 1st Century BC Hellenistic Found Satala, Turkey Bronze head from a cult statue of Anahita in the guise of Aphrodite or Artemis. The eyes were originally inlaid with either precious stones or a glass paste, and the lips perhaps coated with a copper veneer. The top of the head was damaged during excavation. The thin-walled casting of the bronze head suggests a late Hellenistic date. Source: British Museum
