The handle design on this spoon, incorporating both naturalistic and grotesque ornament, is based on Dutch prototypes.

An English Victorian Silver-Plated Figural Epergne with Cut-Glass Bowls, circa 1880 -  22-1/4 inches high x 12-1/4 inches diameter (56.5 x 31.1 cm)  The epergne with a putti sitting on a domed, naturalistic textured base with grapevine-form standard issuing three scrolled arms, each with a hanging basket, the standard continuing to support a cut-glass bowl.
