Inspired by wishes. The Wishing Chair by Enid Blyton - Short stories for children - Classics books to read - Kids.

"The Secret Garden" (Barnes & Noble Leatherbound Classics Series) by Frances Hodgson Burnett

First Term at Malory Towers - Enid Blyton - I loved the Malory Towers books, essential childhood reading

The BFG - While she quietly sleeps Sophie has no idea of the 'other world' waiting for her and the fact that she's about to set forth on an adventure and save the day with the help of her new rather large best friend. A classic and must read book for children (age 7 to 12)

The BFG (The Big Friendly Giant) very humorous, much -- a Roald Dahl author study at this age a good maybe, as James & the Giant Peach, Charlie & Chocolate Factory, plus several others likely have been read in grade 4 -- or could be read afterwards.
