Dark-stained oak armchair with panelled sides, pierced with a flying bird motif, and a drop-in seat of woven rush covered with chequered horsehair. From the Argyle Street Tearooms, Glasgow, designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh, 1898. Made at the workshop of Francis Smith, Glasgow, 1898-99. Probably used in the ground floor rooms.
