PAVLOVA ANNA: (1881-1931) Russian Ballet Dancer. Vintage signed postcard photograph of Pavlova standing in a full length pose, in costume, en pointe. Signed ('Anna Pavlova') in black fountain pen ink with her name alone to the lower white border.
NUREYEV RUDOLF (1938-1993) Russian Ballet Dancer & FONTEYN MARGOT (1919-1991) English Ballerina. Signed 10 x 8 photograph by both Nureyev and Fonteyn individually, the image depicting the dancers in full length poses together, in costume from a performance of Romeo and Juliet in 1966. Signed by Nureyev in bold black ink, with his name alone, and Fonteyn, in red ink, also with her name alone.
FONTEYN & NUREYEV: FONTEYN MARGOT (1919-1991) English Ballerina & NUREYEV RUDOLF (1938-1993) Soviet Ballet Dancer. Individual signed postcard photographs of Margot Fonteyn (depicting her in a full length dance pose from Giselle, signed and inscribed in black ink and dated 1977 in her hand) and Rudolf Nureyev (depicting him in a close-up portrait pose, signed in bold turquoise ink with his name alone to the lower white border).
FERRIER KATHLEEN: (1912-1953) English Opera Singer. Vintage signed sepia postcard photograph, the image depicting Ferrier in a head and shoulders pose. Photograph by Vivienne of London and bearing her credit stamp to the verso. Signed by Ferrier in bold blue fountain pen ink to the lower border. Signed photographs of Ferrier are rare as a result of her untimely death from cancer at the age of 41.
CALLAS MARIA: (1923-1977) American-born Greek Soprano. A good vintage fountain pen ink signature ('Cordially, Maria Callas') and date, 1964, in her hand on a white card.
PAVLOVA ANNA: (1881-1931) Russian Ballet Dancer. Vintage signed postcard photograph of Pavlova standing in a full length pose, en pointe, in costume from one of her most famous roles for the pièce d'occasion The Dying Swan. Signed by Pavlova with her name alone in fountain pen ink across a clear area of the image.
MICHELANGELI ARTURO BENEDETTI: (1920-1995) Italian Classical Pianist, considered one of the greatest pianists of the twentieth century. Vintage signed and inscribed 8 x 10 sepia photograph. The image depicting Michelangeli in a half-length pose, seated at his piano. Signed by Michelangeli in bold blacked fountain pen ink to a clear area of the image, inscribed and dated 1949 in the pianist's hand.
CARUSO ENRICO: (1873-1921) Italian Tenor. Vintage signed postcard photograph, an appealing image of Caruso standing in a full length pose. Signed ('Enrico Caruso') in bold fountain pen ink with his name alone to a light area at the base of the image. Neatly dated 1915 in ink in another hand beneath his signature.
PORTER COLE: (1891-1964) American Composer. D.S., Cole Porter, being a slim, oblong 8vo, signed loan agreement, Peru, Indiana, 11th December 1941. The partially printed agreement, made with the Wabash Valley Trust Company, is for a loan of $5,000 over a six month period at 5% interest per annum.
LIND JENNY: (1820-1887) Swedish Opera Singer, known as the Swedish Nightingale. A.L.S., Jenny Lind-Goldschmidt, one page, 8vo, Moreton Gardens, London, 14th December (c.1875), to 'My Lord'. Lind informs her correspondent, 'How extremely kind of you to send us, for the second time, such splendid game. Pray accept this my very best thanks…'
KARAJAN HERBERT VON: (1908-1989) Austrian Conductor. Signed colour 4 x 6 postcard photograph, the image depicting Karajan in a half-length pose, conducting with baton in hand. Signed by Karajan in bold gold ink with his name alone to a clear area of the image.
COATES ERIC: (1886-1957) English Composer, composed the famous main title march of the film score to The Dam Busters (1954). A.M.Q.S., Eric Coates, on an 8vo page with the upper two corners neatly clipped, n.p., April 1936. In dark fountain pen ink Coates has neatly penned a quotation of two bars from an unidentified work, adding an inscription beneath. Above the quotation appears a neatly affixed magazine image of Coates standing in a three quarter length pose conducting.
D'ALBERT EUGEN: (1864-1932) Scottish-born German Pianist and Composer. Brief A.L.S., Eugen d'Albert, on one side of a correspondence card, Berlin, 3rd March 1894, to an unidentified correspondent, in German. d'Albert responds to his correspondent, 'With remembrance according to your wishes'
[MENDELSSOHN FELIX]: (1809-1847) German Composer & Pianist. Vintage unsigned sepia carte-de-visite photograph by Pierre Petit & Trinquart, Paris, the oval image depicting Mendelssohn in a half-length pose, from an engraving after Hildebrandt (c.1835).
CALLAS MARIA: (1923-1977) American-born Greek Soprano. A vintage signed 3½ x 4½ photograph, the printed image depicting Callas in a head and shoulders pose. Signed ('Maria Callas')by Callas in blue ink with her name alone, to clear area of the image. Neatly matted in red and cream at the centre of four images of Callas to an overall size of 20 x 16.
