Emmeline Pankhurst was introduced to women's suffrage at the age of eight.  Her husband actively encouraged her political work firstly with Women's franchise League, secondly   with the Independent Labour Party and finally she set up the Women's Social and Political Union, for which she worked tirelessly.

Emmeline Pankhurst, leader of the British Suffragette movement, was imprisoned, force fed & abused fighting for women's right to vote.
