The Moray Coast - Findhorn Bay, by Frank H Mason. Beautiful tranquil watercolour of quite a hive of activity in northern Scotland. There are boats at anchor, boats moored at the coast, fishermen, walkers and a lot of people up at the village. The entire painting is brought together by the russet-red sail on the central boat - a Mason trademark colour, so rich and warm as to bring a feeling of summer to the scene. The new "Blue Trains" started work on Glasgow suburban services in 1960, and were a breath of fresh air at the time, with wide windows and curved front windows to look out past the driver.
