Blue Trains for service, by Terence Cuneo. The new "Blue Trains" started work on Glasgow suburban services in 1960, as shown here alongside the River Clyde near Helensburgh. With no trains to be seen, the wording at the bottom makes it clear that British Railways provides more than just train journeys. Clapham Junction - Untitled Version. A very famous railway location, painted by the master of railway subjects. Cuneo's viewpoint was  on top of one of the large signal gantries which straddled the tracks at that time. This wonderfully atmospheric composition is full of accurate details, assisted by the local signalmen! The image was created to show the transition from steam to electric and diesel. On Early Shift - Greenwood Signal Box, New Barnet. This was one of Cuneo's first posters for British Railways. This signal box was situated 10 miles out from Kings Cross on the East Coast Main Line , and shows A4 "Wild Swan" approaching at speed on an express. Visit the Festiniog Railway in the Centenary Year of Passenger Services 1965 (The Pass Track). In May 1964, Cuneo visited the Welsh narrow gauge Ffestiniog Railway to make sketches and take photographs for what was to become the painting of trains passing at Tan-y-Bwlch, which was to be re-produced in many forms on posters during the 1960s.
