Kids' Advent Wreath- Free Printables

*** Update: Click here to get the printable in Spanish and here in Dutch! This year at our CCD Family Advent Night, we decided that we would focus on the meaning of the Advent Wreath and have the kids make their own to take home. I will post pictures of how we make that work for a group, but I wanted to make sure to share the printables before the first week of Advent. Here is how I put them all together: 1. The O Antiphons mark the 7 days before Christmas, and are echoed in the hymn O come, O come Emmanuel. This simple colouring book would be a great way to help children prepare for Christmas during the last week of Advent.

The O Antiphons

We all know the song O Come, O Come Emmanuel. Standby favorite for the season of Advent- but did you know there is a lot more to it than that? There are actually seven verses...that you may or may not get through when you are singing at church...and each of those verses specifically calls on a title of Christ that fulfilled prophecy from the Old Testament. The song comes from the O Antiphons that are prayed by the whole Church during the seven days preceding Christmas Eve. These O Antiphons…

Sun Hats & Wellie Boots: Nativity Small World Play Scene: Bethlehem

Build Your Own Bethlehem Play Scene from Recycled Materials

We're big fans of small world play scenes in our house & as Minnie is keenly exploring the Christmas story during Advent it seemed appropriate to make a Nativity-themed scene. We made this eco-friendly version from a variety of recycled items & old fabric, & the final result was beautiful. To make the buildings for our scene we used: Small recycled cardboard boxes White Paper Masking tape White & yellow paint or cream paint Salt or sand Brown paper (or wrapping paper) We started by wrapping…
