Capital letter on white spoon - Lower case letter on clear spoon - match them up. You could put the lower case letter on the back of the white spoon to help out the younger kids, then take it off later in the school year.
LEGO Word Family Sorting ~ Sort words written on DUPLO LEGO bricks to form word families. Then encourage youngsters to read and write the word family lists. You could also do this with equivalent fractions/decimals/percents. make a tower of equivalents!
Decoding strategies anchor chart to hang in the classroom after teaching each strategy in small group. Build this chart together with students as you introduce each phoneme or strategy. Strategies could be added to CAFE menu.
This is a great center activity for younger students to help them with their spelling, sight words, motor skills, and handwriting. I would use this as an activity center and have students work on sight words and/or spelling words.
Phonic Baskets Sorting Activity (from The Imagination Tree). Take a few boxes or baskets, write a letter on a piece of paper and gather many different items that begin with the letter. Have the student put the items in the corrected basket/ boxes.
