There is the ironic wordplay in her artworks. Which leads us –inevitably –back to Marcel Duchamp and the Dadaists in general, who liked nothing better than manipulating language to poke fun at authority and the art world. Something Kruger did in 1982 with Untitled (You Invest in the Divinity of the Masterpiece). This is a work where Kruger is mimicking the commercial methods of the advertising poster to question the commercial practices of the art world.
