After returning from the south of France, I was inspired to paint one of the beautiful lavender fields that I had seen. I used the complimentary colours yellow and purple and used clingfilm over the tree to give the effect of wind blowing through the branches.
Most of my paintings are about light and atmosphere. I had recently been on a morning woodland walk and the sun was streaming through the trees. I couldn't wait to get to my studio to try and replicate it.

I created these trees by blowing the paint through a straw. It gives a far less uniform and natural shape.
