Reflections. The GCR Bowstring bridge is mirrored in the the placid River Soar. The bridge will soon be demolished by Leicester Council together with the Pump & Tap public house seen through the arch. After closure to trains to London in 1966 and all trains in 1969 the most modern railway in Britain lay derelict for years. Instead of retaining the infrastructure for future use - and we could certainly do with it today - the route was cut and the city centre viaduct and bridge section…
