Ideas and examples of how to keep rabbits safe, happy and secure when living outside in the garden.
Rabbits and Water
Ensuring that your rabbits have access to plenty of clean, fresh water is essential to their care. Make sure to give your rabbits fresh water every day and that you keep their bowls clean to prevent build-up of dirt and slime.
Poisonous Plants
March is here! That means Spring is nearly here too! With Spring comes many new plants popping up, like daffodils, tulips, and crocuses – but while these flowers are a sign of Spring, they should also be a warning sign too. Bulb sprouting plants are usually toxic to your buns and should be removed from reach of your rabbits’ pens and play areas. Please check out our poisonous plants list on our website for more information on what plants should be nipped in the bud. 🌷🌼

Rabbits and Fireworks
As New Year approaches, so do fireworks! It’s not only cats and dogs that are extremely distressed by fireworks, and just because your rabbits can’t make themselves vocal doesn’t mean they aren’t stressed. Now is the time to prepare for the New Year fireworks by moving your outdoor rabbits into a quiet indoor space (such as a shed or garage), or cover their housing with a thick cover to shield the loud bangs. Also, providing your buns with plenty of toys will help keep them distracted.
Outdoor Rabbits in the Cold
Do you have outdoor rabbits? Make sure to keep them protected from the cold weather by providing them with a well-insulated, draught-free sleeping area. ❄ Provide plenty of beddign for insulation. ❄ Companionship - Buns love to snuggle up for warmth. ❄ Use tarps to keep out the wind and rain. ❄ Keep them clean - Make sure their housing is warm and dry. ❄ Bring them indoors - Keep them somewhere cool, quiet and away from strange smells and noises.
