Day 2: After an overnight flight from Heathrow and a few hours waiting in Nairobi for their connecting flight, the team were all pretty tired but in good spirits. The team had a briefing from their expedition leader and doctor and were then able to relax in the KIA Lodge, Arusha where they got their first glimpse of Mt. Kilimanjaro.
In October 2013, we put on our first musical production at The Lyric Theatre in Dinnington. Of course, we had to make it Oliver! the story of the orphan boy who ran away and was lured into Fagin's den and exposed to criminal activity.

Friday 5 October marked the first day of walking for the trekkers. They made their way along the Chambers Route, an unspoilt and exciting route, up the rainforest to Big Tree Camp at around 2,800m. They walked for around 5 hours and travelled a total distance of 4.8km gaining altitude of 396m.
And they're off!
On Wednesday 3 October, 22 intrepid fundraisers set off for their challenge of a lifetime, climbing the world’s highest freestanding mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania to raise funds for SAFE@LAST.
