Chesterfield's Crooked Spire is the largest church in Derbyshire. The spire currently leans 9ft 6in to the southwest and leans more and more every year! Smith of Derby,  clockmakers maintain the exterior clock seen on the clock tower today. Built in the late 1200s legend has it that the devil knocked the spire over lashing out in agony after a local blacksmith made of poor job of shoeing his hooves
