Prefab Kitchen

A 1940s kitchen complete with washing tub. A 'prefab', a temporary house erected for families made homeless though the bombing raids of World War II. These structures were very well designed with a living room, kitchen, modern bathroom and two bedrooms, and were often better than the family's previous accommadation. Some are still in use today. This prefab is in the Chlitern Open Air Museum and has been furnished in 1940s style.
