This sequence of work (primarily Kate's A Level Art sketchbook pages) shows experimentation with media and the exploration of compositional ideas. Artist influences are chosen cleverly: seamlessly integrating with her own aesthetic.

The first thing that I found very interesting and unique is the quirkiness of this simple sketch. I feel that the layout of this particular sketch has been well thought out and there is a great amount of delicacy that is shown within this simple, yet detailed drawing. This relates into the theme of Earth as you can clearly see that this is an illustration of the earth's valuable forest and plants. I feel this is communicated through the detailed lines within the illustration.

Freehand drawings in my travel journal so far - favorite destresser during our 30 day trip. I told myself to chronicle our daily adventures so here's a peek! Off to Siem Reap tomorrow 🚌

I like this sketchbook due to the dark colours in the background and the technique used to do this. The background is completely filled using paint in layers. The dark browns and reds make a background for the writtten work - these colours are roughly joined with cool colours which make a detailed water and boat scene. I like the way the writing becomes part of he painting. . The overall effect is breathtaking.
