Lands End - Golden Gate National Recreation Area (U.S. National Park Service)

At the northwestern corner of San Francisco, there is a series of stunning views at every turn in this wild and windy trail. Hillsides of cypress and wildflowers, views of shipwrecks and access to the ruins of Sutro baths, a San Francisco specials memory. Visit the new Lookout Visitor Center.

Some of the best views of San Francisco can be had from the top of Twin Peaks, but those sights could be harder for motorists (including tourist-laden buses) to take in the future. Southern eats in an alley

Owned by three Tim Te-bros newly arrived from Florida, Hops & Hominy is a Southern-fried palace opening today in Union Square with a 140-seat, bricks-and-sticks interior that includes hardwood floors pulled from an abandoned roller rink in Petaluma and reclaimed bar tops 'n tables made of Pinot Noir-stained redwood and lumber from an old hops factory, likely run by Vince Carter.

Let me start off by saying that I don't recommend only spending 48 hours in San Francisco. The city is too great and there's just so much to explore! Mission District, Mural Art, Murals, Walking Tour, Family Travel, How To Find Out, Places To Go, San Francisco, California

Muir Woods Anniversary -

Though named for legendary conservationist John Muir, Muir Woods National Monument is really the legacy of William Kent, a wealthy landowner and politician. His gift to the nation 100 years ago of this redwood-lined valley in southwestern Marin, containing the last significant old-growth stands in the county, meant that millions of visitors from around the region and the world would get to witness these magnificent trees. The park's anniversary caps a remarkable century of conservation in…
