Guild member Glenice Hoffman creates abstract forms, striking decorative pieces , all hand-built in stoneware. She focuses on the geometric elements of the circle, angle, straight line and curve, and seeks to achieve a sense of depth, balance, harmony and calm. In their finish, Glenice burnishes, polishes, smoke-fires or leaves the clay raw and natural to give textural definition, leaving each piece unique.
Exciting images of Raku firing and smoked fired ceramic pieces by Ember Vincent. Following a trip to Japan to research the origins of Raku, her most recent work is influenced by traditional Japanese Tea Bowls, alongside the concept of Wabi Sabi: that beauty can be found within the imperfections and eroding cycles of nature.😍
Mary is interested in the effect weather has on our landscape, how sun, wind, and rain are constantly interactive and in motion. Leaves blowing in the wind, the texture of a parched riverbank, erosion patterns left on rocks – she recreates these themes and moods within her ceramics. Mary uses slab-building techniques and her own glazes, which she has developed over the years. Each piece may use up to four glazes, making it truly unique.
