Built in 1932 / 33 on the corner of Castle Lane West and Shiphouse Lane, now known as Woodbury Avenue, at a time when the north of Bournemouth was being developed with housing. The Strouden Park Hotel was a commercial hotel, rather than a traditional tourism hotel, its clientele being mainly made up of those staying in town for business or similar reasons, but to the locals it was only ever thought of as a pub, plain and simple.
