Hughes Fowler Crab 42778 in its last days of service to British Rail, rests at Stockport Edgeley Shed. Built 24th September 1927, and withdrawn 24th April 1965, this once fine machine was laid to rest by the 31st July 1965

The Five Arches Bridge, just north of Derby Midland station, was typical of such locations at many railway centres in that it became a mecca for trainspotters. Every Saturday groups of young and old enthusiasts would congregate on the footpath across the bridge which was so close to the railway you could almost touch the passing trains.
