April 10th 1968 9K Bolton mpd Looking very respectable considering the date, Stanier Black 5 44829 stands outside the depot at Bolton. This engine, built in 1944, served at many depots including Bristol Barrrow Road, Toton, Monument Lane, Bushbury, Holyhead, Saltley, Crewe South and Workington before arriving at Bolton during January 1968. Behind is Hudswell Clarke shunter D2516, formerly of Workington, awaiting removal to C.F. Booths Ref B1-19
D1000 'Western Enterprise' in her experimental, 'Desert Sand' livery at Paddington, 5th Sept 1962. Built at Swindon Works and delivered to Laira Depot on 29th Dec 1961. Withdrawn on 11th Feb 1974 and cut up at Swindon Works on 31st July 1974. (David Christie)

Best viewed Original size. A little over a month after mainline steam finished on British Railways, Peter captured preserved Stanier "Jubilee" class 6P5F 4-6-0 45593 "Kholapur" at Kingmoor (12A) MPD, Carlisle - 27/08/1967. Cosmetically 45593 appears to be in reasonable external condition, but is carrying economy unlined BR green livery & has what seems to be a welded patch on the smokebox. © 2012 - Peter Brumby / 53A Models of Hull.
