The Rotunda Wentworth Castle Barnsley Yorkshire

Built between 1742 and 1746 and recently restored, the Rotunda is said to be based on the Temple of Vesta in Rome. In 1709, Thomas Wentworth, 1st Earl of Strafford (of the 2nd creation) set out to create an estate on a grand scale to eclipse the nearby estate of his cousin and rival at Wentworth Woodhouse.
