An extremely rare dug out chair, probably Irish, of a rarely seen form. The chair is superbly decorated to every inch of the surface with hand carved flowers and foliage, grasses and petals reflecting the forest in which the tree once stood. It has a fairy-like quality and was clearly created for the love of the maker's life. Can you imagine the 'ta-da' moment when presenting it - a year of loving work. Completely honest and utterly enchanting, a truly rare and wonderful thing. Dugout, Grasses, Wingback Chair, Wonderful Things, Enchanted, Honest, Petals, Irish

A beautiful gilt bronze of Homer's sleeping Penelope who, during her 20 year wait for her husband Odysseus to return from the Trojan wars, found many clever ways to delay the dozens of suitors who begged to marry her. Each day she worked weaving a shroud for her father in law Laertes, claiming she would choose a suitor when she completed the task - and each night she unravelled her work. In Penelope's hand is a spool of yarn and further spools at her feet. #bronzefigure #antiquebronze Trojan War, Waiting For Her, Shroud, Spool, Task, Penny, Clever

For over 40 years I have worked with antiques, specialising in 17th and 18th century British furniture
with a particular love of early walnut. Our family name was Webberley and in the 18th and 19th centuries many Webberley men worked as cabinet makers and coach builders. Henry Webberley-Smith built one of Queen Victoria's carriages and it is still used by the British Royal family today. When I was able to open my first shop it seemed right for it carry that name.
