Bullfinch. The Bullfinch is a quiet, secretive but heavily built finch that usually spends its time among the branches and dense undergrowth. The handsome male has a blue-grey back and bright rose-pink breast, belly and cheeks. The female has a brown back and pinkish-fawn underparts. The juveniles are like the adult female, but do not have black caps.

Wales - Nature - Wildlife - Great Tit
Great tit. Often mistaken for a blue tit, this large, common garden bird is differentiated from its cousin by its size and the solid black stripe down its front. Its plumage is green and yellow with a glossy black head, white cheeks and black bib. Its song is simple, but recognisable with just two syllables - 'tee-cher'.

BTO: Boom times for Long-tailed Tits
Long tailed tit. The long-tailed tit is easily recognisable with its distinctive colouring, a tail that is bigger than its body, and undulating flight. Gregarious and noisy residents, long-tailed tits are most usually noticed in small, excitable flocks of about 20 birds. Like most tits, they rove the woods and hedgerows, but are also seen on heaths and commons with suitable bushes.

Mistle thrush. The Mistle Thrush is less common in our gardens than its cousin the Song Thrush to which at first glance is very similar. The Mistle Thrush is slightly larger and is grey on the back of its head and back as opposed to the brown of the Song Thrush. Its belly spots are also rounder and less like arrow heads.

Jay
Jay. Although they are the most colourful members of the crow family, jays are actually quite difficult to see. They are shy woodland birds, rarely moving far from cover. Jays are famous for their acorn feeding habits and in the autumn you may see them burying acorns for retrieving later in the winter.

Nuthatch
Nuthatch. Nuthatches are quite unmistakable with their short-tailed, big-headed, fat-bellied shape, even if you don't see the blue-grey back, orangey underparts and long black eyestripe..
